POKOTABI / Nigiriya
握や
Tucked along a back alley by Shinagawa Station's Konan Exit, Nigiriya serves bite-sized Edomae sushi and fresh seafood across an intimate counter and upper-floor dining space.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Stepping into the back alleys off Shinagawa Station's Konan Exit leads to Nigiriya, a sushi spot with the quiet charm of a hidden retreat. The nigiri here is crafted in compact, bite-sized portions, balancing the character of the seafood with the gentle acidity of seasoned rice. Course by course, diners can savour thoughtful Edomae craftsmanship: sharply vinegar-cured kohada (gizzard shad), succulent ark shell, and rich sea urchin.
The ground floor features an intimate counter setting where guests can watch the chefs at work, while table seating occupies the upper level. The kitchen accommodates different dining styles, whether you opt for a structured course alternating between sashimi and small dishes or linger over your favourite sushi pieces paired with drinks. An appealing selection of sake, fragrant hirezake (warm sake infused with grilled fish fin), and Japanese wine extends the evening, offering an unhurried space for conversation and seasonal seafood late into the night.
